After the fall of Constantinople, Aggelis Notaras, a relative of Palaeologus, to save the church of Saint Patapios from the fury of the descendants of Hagar, he transferred it to Gerania Mountains. There, he hid it in an inaccessible cave which was found by chance at the beginning of our century, in 1904. Around the Cave of the holy relic, a nuns priory was established in 1952, which bears the name of St. Patapios. The monastery today is an attraction pole for faithful people resorting to St. Patapios to receive the cure of souls and bodies and accept strength through the path ofvirtue. Monastery also founded the children's camp "Bethlehem".
